Project objectives

Importance of the Project:

The aim of this cooperative project is to foster collaboration among member universities in both the European Union and Southeast Asia. The objective is to collectively develop the human resources of member universities in Southeast Asia, enabling them to advance their curriculum and instruction in the fields of automation systems and Industry 4.0. This will yield an appropriate curriculum or instructional model that aligns with the human resource development goals of each member country.

For Thailand, the government’s implementation of the Thailand 4.0 policy to transition the nation through the middle-income trap has resulted in a demand for a reformation of the manufacturing sector on a macro scale. This creates opportunities for Thailand to enhance its competitive potential in the global market, leading to a demand for technical and engineering personnel proficient in automation systems for Industry 4.0.

The participation of the Faculty of Information Technology in this project is intended to develop the capabilities of its faculty members and staff in the field of automation systems for Industry 4.0. This will be beneficial for teaching in undergraduate and graduate engineering programs and to meet the demand for personnel in the industrial sector. It will establish the faculty as a center of excellence, offering consulting services and training for the manufacturing sector.

Furthermore, it provides a direction for the introduction of new courses that align with the labor demands at both the national and international levels, thereincreasing the number of students in the faculty.

Objectives

-To enhance the teaching and learning capabilities in the field of automation systems for faculty members and staff of the Information Technology Department.

-To develop the capacity of faculty members to create and manage curricula or instructional models that meet market demands at both national and global levels.

-To improve the quality of graduates and postgraduates from the department, equipping them with skills in automation systems that align with the requirements of the manufacturing sector for the labor market, both domestically and internationally.

-To evolve into a center of excellence that provides consulting services and training, augmenting knowledge for both public sector organizations and private entities.

Project Characteristics:

This collaborative project aims to enhance the capabilities of staff in the field of automation for Industry 4.0, allowing for efficient instruction and curriculum development in this area. In the execution of this project, we leverage cooperation with various member countries. This includes obtaining expert knowledge transfer from universities in three European Union member countries, who act as mentors in curriculum development, technical management, quality control, and industry linkage. The project is carried out through various collaborative activities such as practical training, seminars, and real-world applications. There is a platform for knowledge exchange among member universities throughout the duration of the project. Furthermore, project evaluation is conducted both members of the group and external experts before the project’s conclusion.
